Hi there, I am user of Chess Informant EE 1-92 till now. Once I decided to buy EE of Informants i bought CIE 4.1, then 5.0 appeared and I have had to pay soe money, after that 5.1 appeared - again money. Now there is 6.1 - and they again want money. And the only feature wich I need is just export the games into PGN and use them in much better software -Chessbase 9. I can conclude that people from Chess Informant are interested only in making money, and not in providing quality software. It is similar like Convekta. Poor quality, poor commented games, a lot of mistakes. We, chess fans and chess players do not need this kind of products. And we are ready to pay, but not for such quality!

Dear friend,
First of all, I agree with you that asking to buy new releases of CIE just to be able to export recent editions of CI is not user friendly. Sahovski should provide free updates for previous versions of CIE and CIR to allow export.
But let me disagree with you about chess software quality:
CIE is not as feature reach as Chessbase, but CB 9 is also far behind CA 8. Also, Chessbase 9 was as buggy when first released as no other chess software on my memory, except Deep Junior 9 GUI. By the way, do you know that the latest update to ChessBase 9 is not available from PlayChess and is distributed only on CBM 106 CD? This means that if you want to update ChessBase 9, you must buy CBM 106! Both Convekta and Sahovski respond to my support requests very fast and in very user friendly manner.
Quality of Chess Informant publications is very high and can be compared only to NIC Yearbook. CBM is good, also, but the quality of some CBM openings reviews is much below average while every edition of CI and NIC YB are of the same very high quality.
If Sahovski could find resources to make both ECO and ECE up to date, and to update it frequently, many chess players would say "Thanks!". Also, an electronic edition of an updated ECE would be a must have for everybody serious about chess. And resuming publishing of openings monographs, especially in electronic form, would be just great.

Mr. Vlad Kosulin: I have recently acquired the ECO and all Monographs from your site and I am very happy with the ECO A-E wich I didn't have any problems to install them in my notebook computer. As for the Monographs, is giving me the following error message:
"Table does not exist.
File or Directory does not exist.
File C:\Program Files\Chess Informant\Chess Informant Expert\cirtables\MonographsMCO.db"
I checked this file and is there in the directory along with al other extensions: *.MB, *.MCO, *.VAL, *.PX, *.XG0 & YG0. I tried to uninstall and reinstall and nothing. Is there anything else I can do to make them work??

To get top quality ganes. Games hand picked by GM's
Other software databases go like this. Rating >2450, get all games, and 3 million or so of worthless games and they sell it.
Also NIC hand picked and annotated by IM who doesn't play anymore.
So you buy Chessbase 10 with their Mega 3 million worthless games. even their engines books are no good.
Another stumble, you build your informant database in chessbase, then you would like to export new informanr edition to it. No can do. So you have to install database again to include recent games. Remember to keep games with book improvment [like emgines provide better than GM in most positions], such a hassale
